About the festival

The Twinfest is a three day, multi venue music festival held in Northampton. The aim is to showcase the creativity of Northampton musicians along with that of our Twin Towns of Marburg and Poitiers in a manner that is as enjoyable for the performers as it is for the audience. To this end all artists get the same billing and are encouraged to enjoy the creativity around them rather than be competitive. This is further enhanced by the spirit of Twinning as we invite acts from Marburg and Poitiers so that we can enjoy the creativity of their vibrant music scenes and find this gives our festival the relaxed, friendly vibe we seek to create. We cover the complete musical spectrum so any style is encouraged to perform as we welcome diversity. Twinfest is funded by the Northampton Borough Council and takes place as part of their Music and Arts Festival.

About the Twinning Association

The Northampton Twin Town Musicians Association is a Not-For-Profit Association of musicians who work alongside our partner organisations in Germany and France, the Marburg Musiekverein and Poitiers Jeunes. Our aim is to promote the creativity of the musicians of Northampton, Poitiers and Marburg by means of reciprocal festivals where we invite musicians from the others music scene to perform alongside local acts. By working together as musicians we are able to create Festivals which are a showcase of the creativity of each town in a way that is bigger than any of the participating acts, which in turn helps the live music scene. It also allows musicians from each town to play to foreign audiences as part of a larger event, so as to get their foot in the door to getting gigs in the other country by themselves or with a "Twin Band" at a later date.
